With the support of the Australian BioCommons and ABACBS, a Bioinformatics Community of Practice (CoP) has been created. This has been launched as a result of the Bioinformatics at Scale and Australia’s Next Generation of Supercomputers event, held earlier in 2021.
The CoP will give bioinformaticians using supercomputers the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences while remaining connected around High Performance Computing (HPC) topics.
Pawsey has made the Bioinformatics Slack Channel available and will be hosting a first zoom meeting in the coming weeks – join this space as we announce more!

The participants who responded to the after-event survey told us what they wanted, and we listened. It is expected the CoP will be an opportunity for:
- Conceptual collaboration
- Sharing research progress and opportunities; an ideas exchange
- Discussing emerging technologies, tools, workflows and pipelines; combined with best practices
- A safe, supportive environment for knowledge and growth
- An insight into peer’s research, problems and resolutions
Make the space yours! Become an active member of the community.
Join the slack channel, discover what is there, register for upcoming events, organise your own events, share your most recent papers and publications, ask your peers questions and discover what they are working on.
