Educator PL: Using big data to build student strength – SAVE THE DATE
This event has been re-scheduled to a future date (Tentative date – 2nd November 2023).
About this event
Join the CSIRO and find out what’s behind the scenes at the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre in Perth. Join virtually or in person, as we look at big data projects, how students can contribute to them and strengthen their skills.
As part of STEM Together’s goal to help educators and students use strength-based approaches to build confidence, capability and connection with STEM, this professional learning session offers exclusive access to CSIRO experts.
On the agenda:
Sleep study
Who doesn’t like to sleep?! Explore the world of sleep through data – real data that your students create! In this interactive session, you’ll be introduced to the many, free teacher resources and student activities available to you. From collection, interpretation, analysis, application, and communication, the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre team will walk you through resources your class can use to get started.
Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre Tour
Have you met Setonix? It’s one of the world’s most powerful and most energy efficient supercomputers. In this tour you’ll be able to see it up close.
Delivered as a virtual tour or in person for those in Perth, hear from Pawsey scientists and specialists about the power of Setonix and the cutting-edge research discoveries and science that is being done on site. We’ll also show you our new Visualisation Lab, where the galaxy will be opened before your eyes.
In-person workshop, networking opportunity
We’ll close the session with a chance for you to ask Pawsey scientists and specialists questions and network with colleagues, over a cuppa.
