Meet GPU Hackathon Mentors – New developments & features in the PGI compiler suite by NVIDIA’s Dr Markus Wetzstein
11:00am - 12:00pm
As part of the International GPU Hackathon, GPU experts will be visiting Perth from different coordinates and will present on various topics.
The PGI compilers provide stable, performant code generation for HPC customers across a range of architectures. In this talk Dr Wetzstein will give an overview of recently added new features to the PGI compilers. He will also give an outlook on what new functionality users can expect in upcoming releases and highlight our plans to make it easier for developers to write maintainable, parallel code.
Dr Wetzstein is a HPC Developer Technology Engineer in the PGI Compilers & Tools group at NVIDIA, focusing on the performance of customer applications. Before joining NVIDIA, he worked at CSCS, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre, on a project to port a major weather model to GPUs. His training and background is in computational astrophysics, where he has worked on various large simulation codes since his graduate studies and he has held postdoctoral researcher positions at University of Zurich and Princeton University before joining CSCS. In his academic career, he mostly focused on various aspects of improving parallelism and porting simulation codes to new architectures and parallel programming models.
