How do you know when your dataset becomes “too big”?

How do you know when your laptop can no longer do what you need it to do for your research? When is it best to use cloud resources? When is it best to use supercomputing resources? When do I need both (or neither)?

The answers to these questions are project-dependent, and each project is different… but there are guidelines and best practices to help you decide.

This hands-on discussion looks at when a laptop might not be enough for one’s research any longer using an interactive cake baking exercise, considerations for what infrastructure to use next, and guidance on how to apply.

This session includes an introduction to Pawsey’s new Setonix supercomputer, Nimbus Research Cloud, Visualistion.

This event will be held in-person at Curtin University, Building 402 Room 201. A map of the location can be found here: https://link.mazemap.com/986TXC3dMazeMap
