

Using Supercomputers – Part 2 (Online)
Join Pawsey Specialists for this workshop, learning not only how to use supercomputers but also how to apply best practices.
This is Part 2 of a 2-part series. To register for Part 1, go to our Events page.
At the end of the Using Supercomputers (parts 1 and 2), you will be able to:
- List and describe the major parts of a supercomputer
- Log into a supercomputer
- Find and use available software on a supercomputer
- Explain how a supercomputer is shared among researchers
- Submit a job to a supercomputer queue
- Define key supercomputer terms, including SLURM, partitions, nodes, schedulers, and data movers.
Pre-requisites:
- Familiarity with Linux command line, including such commands as cd, mv, pwd, ssh and a text editor such as vi
- A Linux terminal client installed, such as MobaXterm, xterm or Terminal
- (Optional, but recommended) Completion of Introduction to the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre (available from Pawsey’s Training portal)
