Nebula: New web-based remote visualisation Windows cluster is now available

Welcome Nebula!

We are delighted to announce our new Windows-based visualisation cluster which will make it easier for researchers to access and build visualisations.

Nebula is available via the web, which means researchers can access this resource on the fly without needing to install any client software on their laptops.

It will also support touch-enabled interfaces, improving functionality and interactivity.

Nebula consists of 16 nodes equipped with Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6248 and NVIDIA Graphics Card (either NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 or NVIDIA RTX A6000) and with two memory (RAM) options (either 384 GB or 768 GB), which will make it significantly faster to complete visualisation tasks.

Biomedical animator for Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Dr Maja Divjak, uses Pawsey’s Nebula cluster to animate CAR-T cell technology, a revolutionary cancer treatment. Maja’s animation contains millions of pixels and rendering it is labour intensive. By using Pawsey’s state-of-the-art graphics workstation, Maja sped up the rendering process between two and four times.

Nebula will be available to Principal Investigators, (employed at an Australian university or research institution).

Allocations will be granted per project per calendar year.
