Following its recent collaboration announcement to develop Australia’s first quantum-supercomputing hub for innovation, the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre hosted its second quantum computing online event, focusing on quantum computing for industry growth.
This was an opportunity for over 130 attendees to hear from Australian leaders in the field to understand how quantum computing can benefit their research, business and help grow their industries.
The group heard from experts, including Dr Cathy Foley, CSIRO‘s Chief Scientist; Mr Shaun Wilson, serial entrepreneur and co-founder of quantum & AI companies QxBranch and Shoal Group; Dr Andrew Horsley, co-founder and CEO of Quantum Brilliance; and Mr Bill Bartee, Partner at Main Sequence Ventures.
The presenters touched on the new paradigm in science and technology that quantum computing encapsulates, and the new horizons that industries will be able to reach when using quantum technologies; such as the Australia’s first quantum-supercomputing hub for innovation by the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre and Quantum Brilliance.
The presenters touched on the jobs and growth opportunities that quantum computing technologies present for Australia. Multinational organisations are shifting to Australia for research and industrial growth in areas such as health, defence, sensing, space, agricultural technology, finance, medicine and more.
Adapting and developing quantum technology will solve challenges such as the travelling salesman problem, quantum fluid dynamics, technological benchmarking and characterisation, adaptive tools, techniques and more.
The key takeaway from the event was that the possibilities of quantum computing are endless, we are just getting started. Integrating quantum technologies to any industry is going to provide unprecedented growth for jobs, efficiencies and technologies – it’s an opportunity for everyone.
