Pawsey is hosting it’s first WEEK-LONG Work Experience for students in years 10-12.
We are trialling this with a small group of keen students. Will you be a student in our first cohort?
Highlights for the Week
Highlights for this Student Work Experience week include:
- Learning about the operation of Australia’s largest research supercomputer, Setonix
- Participating in workshops, activities, and challenges, including:
- Learning UNIX and “the command line” to actually log into Setonix!
- A portion of most days will be spent in training, joining new Pawsey Interns, who are also learning to use Setonix
- Being introduced to key concepts in quantum and quantum computing
- Hearing about different career paths and opportunities in high performance computing and STEM/STEAM
- Developing an engaging learning activity for your peers, on a supercomputing/related topic

- Pawsey’s state-of-the-art Visualisation Lab
- Pawsey’s Setonix supercomputer, ranked 17th most powerful and 4th greenest in the WORLD
- The WORLD’S first room-temperature quantum computer co-located at a supercomputing centre – dubbed Qugo
We have a few spots open for students (Years 10, 11, 12) to join us.
This event is in-person, from 20-24 November 2023, from 9am to 3.00 pm, at 1 Bryce Avenue, Kensington, WA
There is no cost for this event.
Students are requested to bring their own lunches and snacks. Fruit, biscuits, water, tea, and coffee will be provided.
